Ahead of their traditional wedding ceremony on Thursday, November 9, news around the marriage had taken over Ghana's social media with the pre-wedding teasers.
Emmanuel Agyemang Badu had found his ribs in Regitta Affua Arthur.
Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is a Ghanaian professional footballer with 78 caps for the senior national men’s team of Ghana, the Black Stars.
Born in Berekum in the Brong-Ahafor region of Ghana, he started his football career at local clubs Berlin FC and Berekum Arsenal. The Ghana international progressed in his career for his talent, later playing for Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko. Badu then moved to Europe where he played with the Italian football club Udinese for 10 years.
Regitta Affua Arthur is wife of former Ghana star Emmanuel Agyemang Badu. She is an HR Manager, ex-banker and an entrepreneur according to the details of her Instagram bio. Reggietta owns Obideaba by Keytuwaa. Her now husband and former Black Stars player has been a model on their social media page many times. The business provides clothing that is elegant and perfect for casual events.
Agyemang Badu and Regitta had been together for three years before their marriage.
The two met through Badu's friend during the COVID era. When the former Black Stars players saw Regitta through a friend, he was smitten instantly and asked for an introduction.
"I saw a beautiful girl through a friend and I said ei which friend is this?," Agyeman Badu shared to the people gathered at their marriage ceremony.
Even though he was restricted by a lockdown in Italy, he started chatting Regitta. As a man who wanted to start on the right foot to impress Regitta, he offered to get her some lunch in
the early days of their talking but she rejected it. Badu instantly realised this was going to be challenging according to his narration during their traditional marriage ceremony.
When things calmed down with COVID restrictions, Badu then travelled to Ghana to meet Regitta for the first time and continued to talk. As he ends his story 'You know what time is it'.
Just as tradition demands, Regatta’s father asked whether he should receive the items presented by Agyemang Badu and his family.
Regitta was ready. And asked his father to accept the items adding “I will be worried if you do not accept these items”.
On the other side, Badu had already made up his mind and had ideas for Regitta.
During the exchange of vows, the former Black Stars player said:
“In the name of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, bless this ring for me. She should be a good wife to me. She should give me twins! One for the Black Queens and one for the Black Stars. Amen. She knows I love her.”
For a high-profile wedding in Ghana, guests are expected to match the stakes.
Having played for the senior national team of Ghana, the former Black Stars player Emmanuel Agyemang Badu had several dignitaries at his marriage ceremony with Regitta.
Notable among them was Ghana’s Chief Imam Osman Nuhu Sharubutu who graced the nuptials of the former Udinese player. Ghana teammate Kwadwo Asamoah was also present at the ceremony among other dignitaries.
Gospel Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards, Piesie Esther performed her latest hit ‘Mo’ at the event.
