Accra, Ghana -Â A combination of unknowingly meeting the love of your life on social media and sharing Alpha Hour links on Instagram birthed a free wedding for Ernestina and Nana Kwame. This is the 2024 edition of Seed Bride.
--------
The Seed Bride Initiative, a remarkable annual project in Ghana, is once again making dreams come true in 2024.
This initiative, now in its fourth year, unites a network of wedding vendors to offer a completely free wedding ceremony to a deserving couple. Through Seed Bride, selected couples get the chance to celebrate their love without the heavy financial burden, allowing them to focus solely on their journey together.
This year, that couple is Ernestina and Nana Kwame, whose story of love, resilience, and support in difficult times touched the hearts of many.
Ernestina and Nana Kwame’s journey began on a social media app in March 2022.
However, it wasn’t just digital algorithms that brought them together, but rather an emotional connection forged in trying times.
Shortly after meeting, Nana Kwame lost his brother, a tragedy that shook him deeply.
“The same year we met, I lost my brother. She played a solid role in my life because things were quite difficult for me at that moment,” Nana Kwame shares.
Ernestina became more than a partner; she became his pillar, standing by him through unimaginable loss. This deepened their bond and solidified their commitment to each other.
Despite their love, life threw another challenge their way when Nana Kwame’s father fell ill. Financial resources intended for their marriage were redirected towards his father’s care, putting their dreams of marriage on hold.
But fate had another plan. Ernestina stumbled upon the Seed Bride Initiative through a prayer session in April 2024. She quickly seized the opportunity, drafting their story and submitting it.
“When I saw the window had been opened [for Seed Bride 2024], I quickly took the email and in the morning, I drafted our story and sent it,” she recalls seeing the opened window after sharing an 'Alpha Hour' link on Instagram.
This act of faith turned their halted plans into a possibility once again.
The Seed Bride Initiative first launched in 2021 with a mission that goes beyond mere charity. It was founded on the principle of helping couples start their marital journey without the weight of financial strain.
With the hashtag #ForGodNotForTrend, Seed Bride unites wedding vendors to create unforgettable experiences that celebrate the true essence of love.
This initiative, rooted in kindness, brings together various industry professionals to sponsor engagement and wedding ceremonies for one lucky couple each year.
Over the years, Seed Bride has become a beacon of hope for couples like Ernestina and Nana Kwame, showcasing the strength and generosity within Ghana’s wedding community.
Last year’s couple, Samuel and Benedicta, shared a story that resonated with many.
Samuel, who had given Benedicta a lift after a church service, found himself in police custody after an accident that led to a tragic loss of life. Despite the trauma, Benedicta supported him through his legal ordeal. Over time, their shared experience brought them closer, eventually blossoming into a beautiful relationship. Their love story was one of healing and redemption, and the Seed Bride Initiative turned their dreams into a reality with a fully sponsored wedding.
The Seed Bride Initiative has proven that love can overcome all obstacles, whether it’s financial strain, loss, or the challenges life throws at us.
For Ernestina and Nana Kwame, their journey to the altar symbolizes resilience and the power of unwavering support.Seed Bride 2024 gives them the opportunity to celebrate their union, a testament to the enduring power of love.
